Interesting Names of Peeps from AJC(AAC)O

Featuring the 'Ling' Siblings, the 'Fishball City', the 'Gentle' and the 'Vegetable Gal'...

This week's special features will be a showcase of a few AJC(AAC)O peeps... I hope this blog can serve to introduce more juniors to seniors and vice-versa. We had a blog entry on marriage and couples in AJC(AAC)O. This time, the theme for this blog entry will be on special names (or rather nick names) of some interesting people.


Profile Number One: Qi-Wei Ling (Viagra and Sis)

Everyone knows the 'Ling' Siblings... The ultimate siblings of AJCO... Wanna know why they are featured here? Pictures tell a thousand words... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 expressions... Yeah!!!






So who they are?

Name:

Wei Ling (23rd Batch AJCO) and Qi Ling (21st Batch AJCO)

Nickname:

Qi (Ling) Mei and Wei (Ling) Ge aka Wei Ge *No Offence =p*


Descriptions:

Both of them are really really very nice people (though crappy - Wei Ge is more crappy than Qi Mei). The most loving siblings I have ever seen. And they sings VERY well wor. Qi Mei just stepped down from her Xianyue SL post in AJCO while Qi Ling has just taken over Missy Huiling's post as a treasurer in AJCAACO. Qi Ling is well-known as an auntie 杀手. His charming smile will melt the hearts of friends' mamas. A definite threat to the friends' papas. Wei Ling has the same charismatic smile (She is damn photogenic and of cos pretty even outside photos). Luckily, she is not an uncle
杀手 (or else will attract the wrong men).

The Secret of the 'Ling' Ancestry:

Wei Ge has inherited a skill from the Ling Ancestors - Using the snapping of fingers to perform 龙腾虎跃 percussion solo. I think he is quite disappointed as Qi Mei doesn't seem to have the same talent. It's OK. JIAYOU QI MEI... Practice makes perfect.


Profile Number Two: Fish Ball City


No. I am not trying to feature S.H.E. in the AJCAACO blog (though S.H.E. has so many songs that uses CO music). Rather, I am trying to introduce the Number One Fan of S.H.E. in AJCO. Before I start, let's have a "DO-YOU-KNOW?" section first. Do you know that Wanting, Susanna and Wei Ling from AJCO 23rd batch took part in the AJ Idol contest (They did not win though =p)? (See Below Right)... Ok... Enough of Crap... Here is the story of the World's Most Famous Fishball!!!


So who she is?

Chen Yuan Yu, Susanna (Tan Yuan Yu) (23rd Batch AJCO Yangqin Player)

Nickname:

Yu Yuan Chen (Fish Ball City) or Yu Yuan Tan(g) (Fish Ball Soup)


Descriptions:

Fishball just stepped down from her treasurer position so that she can focus on meeting S.H.E.... I mean studying... As you can see, she is one of the AJCO S.H.E. who took part in AJ Idol. 'Equipped' with the voice of Selina, Fishball rocked the Kbox room with S.H.E. songs (with the pretty Wanting and crappy Wei Ling). Alumni Aunties and Uncles... If you wanna feel young again, join Fishball and friends for KTV... Guarantee plus chop you will feel like 18 years old again.

The Secret of the 'Fishball' Ancestry:

Fishball and her two (real) sisters have changed the impression of idol chase into a very innocent fairy tale. Do read her blog to feel about her encounters with S.H.E. brings life into her. I think it is S.H.E. that makes our dear Fishball to be the
World's Most Famous Fishball... Yummy!!! (I wonder can Huang Sheng has the same effect? Hmmmm)


Profile Number Three: Gentle

I haven got a chance to know more about this person with a special name. (Dun even have a proper picture of her). Not a special nick but a special name. When I first heard people called her, I thought that was supposed to be her nickname. Yeap.... Gentle is her name. 姓 温 名 柔 = 温柔...... Can you believe it? That is such a NICE NAME... (In the past... we have another AJCO peep with a beautiful name - Shi Zhongmei... 始终美 = Forever Beautiful)


Guess who is Wen rou? Just see who is the smallest of them all. This is a picture of the Liuqin players for SYF 2007. The petite gal in the middle is Wen Rou. Miss Gentle. If you think Xiuhua is small size... Check out Wen Rou... =p

Profile Number Four: The Vegetable Gal

This gal is the foundation of 23rd batch AJCO. Though she is just a 'tree-branch' but she supports AJCO like a tree trunk. Without her leadership qualities in leading the whole orchestra, AJCO would not have gotten gold in 2007 for SYF. Can you guess who she is?

Nick Name:

Obvious rite? Literally, Miss Cai can be known as 'Vegetable Tree Branch' or '菜树枝'

Description:

As mentioned earlier, 'tree branch' is more like a tree trunk which supports AJCO. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, 'tree branch' was promoted to the president of AJCO (replacing Nigel). Though the 23rd batch AJCO experienced a bit of reshuffling and restructuring at the end of 2006, 'tree branch' managed to pull everyone together and braved through difficult times. Yeap... Cai Shuzi has proven her point. Eat more vegetables and you will grow stronger mentally and physically. Nothing can stop her for Miss Cai is 100% natural green with the needed vitamins for survival.

Qiao Feng a 指挥? Huang Sheng in 天龙八部?

Have anyone watched Jin Yong's "The Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils" (天龙八部) on TV before? Those from AJCO or TJCO might have noticed that our dearest CO conductor HUANG SHENG is playing the role of Qiao Feng. To outsiders who don't know about CO (hence, the existence of Huang Sheng), their first impression of Huang Sheng might be... "Hmmm... I didn't know Qiao Feng can orchestrate a CO"...

YESSSH... Both of them (See the two pictures shown above) are O.M.G(odly) identical!!! Equally suave... Equally nice long hair... Equally having the charisma of MAN... If you are still unconvinced, let me show you all a few more photos for comparison... Prepare for the battle of Huang Sheng VS Qiao Feng...

GO GOAL GOLD!!! AJCO SYF COMPETITION

May 10th. The Judgment Day! After months of intensive CO practices in the AJCO room, AJCO's hard work has finally paid off. The 23rd batch AJCO (with the help of many JC1s - future 24th batch) has emerged victory. This is a special day for many of our AJCO alumni... And a overly exciting day for a weak-stomach person like me... Because of the long and treacherous waiting time from the morning till AJCO's turn, I got too excited that I had diarrhoea 4 times in SCH.

Arriving at Singapore Conference Hall at 8.20am in the morning with a few other alumni (i.e. Xiao Ting, Mervin and Peiling), the atmosphere was tense. AJCO was the first team in the afternoon session. The few of us was there since morning to see how much chance AJCO can get gold by comparing with other JC COs. I believe Mervin and Xiao Ting agree that AJCO will definitely get a gold at the end of the AM session SYF competition. I was even thinking whether AJCO can get the gold with honours.

Mervin, Fukang, Xiao Ting and I went into the tuning room with AJCO for preparation. Huang Sheng went through the set piece with them. GOSH... It was so nicely expressed by our dear juniors. In our minds, AJCO is DEFINITELY (plus chop plus guarantee) getting a GOLD.

Being the first to perform in the afternoon session, AJCO was seated on stage for around 5 mins to wait for the judges to make their grand entrance. The concert hall was silent as everyone was staring at AJCO. Well... They are professional. They sat there on stage without fidgeting (or maybe some of the were trembling but we can't see). Well well... and the first song went well... The second as well... One word to describe AJCO's musical impression - Serene (not you Serene) but as if the two musical pieces give some of us a very comfortable feeling. A sense of serenity. In our hearts, we were thinking (hearts dun think... nvm) that AJCO has a 50-50% chance of getting a gold with honours because unlike many other JCs' COs, AJCO was in excellent form on stage without making any major mistakes. For anyone who has seen the progress of AJCO, it is easy to feel SO SO SO proud of them. When a few weeks ago, AJCO was reprimanded by HS and AJCO was merely at the silver standard.

The ultimate moment came when the MC started to announce the results... I was sitting with the juniors.. Praying to whoever up there in the sky... Praying to Buddha, Kwanying, Allah, Jesus whoever or whatever... When TJCO got Gold with Honours... AJCO people cheered for them. We cheered for them though we know that two gold with honours have been given and chances of AJCO getting another one was slimmer... Number 10 - NJCO GOLD... Number 11 - AJCO GOLD................... (and we wait for the word - 'with honours' to be mentioned). Nope... Nothing... and the MC carry on with Number 12 RJC - GOLD etc etc...

Everyone around me went silent... a few of them clapped... Most went silent. Tears started forming in a few juniors' eyes as some of us were hoping to get the gold with honours especially when ACJC, VJC, NYJC, RJC, NJC got their gold awards as well. The feeling was really very sad and disappointed. For the few of us who has listened to all the JC's performances, we know that other than HC and TJ, AJC was the best. But... well... Maybe we are not up to the Gold With Honours standard.

TJCO started filling the concert hall with school cheers... NYJC as well... AJCO people were quietly leaving the concert hall. In SCH's concourse, many of the juniors started breaking into tears... Haiz... But I guess we have to be more positive, we 'score' a hat-trick. Three times consecutively GOLD... YEAH...

AJCO has matured. When Miss Chua (Bihe) was in AJCO, they were not really excited to know the results. They were more surprised than happy to have gotten a GOLD. Under Shumin (15th batch), we cried for getting a silver. We were disappointed. And it goes on and on until Jian en's batch. They got a GOLD and went into the finals. They screamed and cried with tears of joy. Under Matthew's leadership, AJCO clinched another GOLD with a few of them disappointed for not getting a GOLD with honours (though most of them are happy). Yesterday 10th of May, AJCO cried... Because they know that they can do better. A Gold with Honours was within reach. AJCO is no more the AJCO in the past. AJCO has progressed into another higher level. A gold with honours is not something only HC and TJCO can achieve. With the AJCO spirit, a gold with honours is a possible future achievement.

More importantly, members of AJCO has matured as well. When AJCO knew their results, one student said with tears falling down her cheek, "We are still happy (though sad) because at least one of Huang Sheng's COs (TJCO) got a Gold with Honours... We are happy for TJCO... We are happy for Huang Sheng". I am extremely impressed and touched by the words. This is how members of AJCO has matured over the span of time striving to be better. They are not sore losers. This is the way to move on... to strive for a better future for AJCO. We can be disappointed. But we will never give up. Its time to accept that AJCO still can improve and move on!!! =)

Last but not least, I guess AJCO and AJCAACO should not forget the unsung heroes. A big thank you to the two poor girls looking after the belongings of AJCO when AJCO were up on stage (Can someone from AJCO thank them since I don't even know their names? HAHA... Thanks). Thank you Miss Chua, Mrs Cheong, and Mr Goh for their efforts in grooming AJCO. Thank you Chen Laoshi for building a strong foundation for AJCO. Of course, with out Huang Sheng, AJCO would not have been so successful (as he was AJCO's conductor since 8th batch AJCO and now is already 23rd batch?) =D

Unraveling The 'Mysterious' AJCO Alumni Gal...

Background Information:

Recently, our AJCAACO blog is stalked by two unknowns... (unknown to the older 'aunties' and 'uncles' AJCAACO members). They are very much attracted by Jianjie's 'not-so-freakish' accident (or incident). One is benny (who still remains a mystery) while the other is sp (Siew Ping). Jianjie, who was injured with a punctured lung and has since recovered due to intensive practices on his new lung-exercising 'musical instrument', claimed that "at least sp n benny has seen [his] face from this blog. but [he] dunno who u r". Basically, they are in the light while we are in the dark. Thus, it is my duty to unravel who these mysterious ppl are... Benny is still a mystery figure but muahahaha... I have found SP (hiding in London)....

Oh... This is such a LOVELY comment to receive from an AJCO alumni. I guess for the efforts that AJCAACO (EXCO and members) have put in, the best things that we hope to receive are expressions of emotional attachments to AJCO even after they have 'graduated' from there or words of encouragement for AJCAACO to move on - to continue as the bridge that binds 'graduates' of AJCO and the ongoing 'new' AJCOs' progress.

So Siew Ping... Glad to know that you treasure the memories you had with AJCO and thank you so much for just the few words you have mentioned (which mean an awful lot to the AJCAACO and the current AJCO people). Do let us know when you are back in Singapore so we can organize a trip back to AJCO room and watch them practice and pay Huang Sheng a visit.

Anyway, its time to unravel the mystery of Siew Ping (who suddenly appears in our AJCAACO blog)... So who is this 'stalker'? (I meant it in a good way as the way you stalk our blog helps to increase the Blog Counter hits and show how much you still feel for AJCO)

AJCO 'Website' and Words of Encouragement by Sylvia

The current 23rd Batch AJCO has come up with their own website to facilitate interactions among the members. Since it is their website, I guess we should not sign up as a member (I assume they will want some autonomy for themselves rather than having the Alumni as surveillance camera). However, the website offers messages that the AJCO EXCO convey to their members and 'outsiders' are able to access to these messages. i know that the rehearsal at SCH wasn't was gd as we expect it to be. some of you might heard the comments given by TJCO. BUT.. i hope that this will not affect our mood and morale ok?

only, all places outside the concert hall were NON-AIRCONDITIONED.
Yar... Save the Earth... I Shall Just Shut Up!!! Anyway, look at those
new pipas. AJCO members are so fortunate nowadays.



Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.

The comments given to us only serve to spur us for the better. it is the obstacles we will forever be seeing if we give up on our goal. so, lets us fight to the very end. show others our potential, show them what we are truely make of. prove to them we'll be able to get GOLD.


Well... As long as the AJCO costume remains the same, this photo will
always look the same like any other AJCO batches performing in SCH.
Believe me! Maybe I shall post a photo of their actual SYF photo and
you can try spotting the difference (Won't be an easy task). Anyway,
I don't think anyone will know it if I have used instead the last
batch's SYF or the last last batch's photo rather than last Sunday's
SYF rehearsal photo. Haha! Cos they all look the same!!!



i know many of us are tired of the late practices and other stuffs. but everyone is in the same situation together. we are together as one and we will support each other to the very end. it really requires the commitment from everyone of us. it's not just the effort of each individual, the conductor or even the exco members. everyone in CO is together as one.

Comeon, it's already the last lap.
lets put in our very best, don't let yourself live in regret.
i believe in our hearts we have a common goal.
so where's the drive towards it?
ask yourself, what do you really want out of this SYF?
it's now the time to really give all our efforts to ajco.
at the end of the day, the efforts put in will be paid off.

So what are you waiting for?
make the difference now!

AJCO 2007 - THE JOURNEY BEGINS...

AJCO 23rd (JC2) and 24th (JC1) batch has been practicing very hard for their SYF (On 10th May). I guess I shall start to 'narrate' their progress since it is already so near to their SYF. With Siew Ping's comment on how our blog serves to connect AJCO 'graduates' with the current juniors, I shall blog more about the situation of our current AJCO juniors. (Anyway, I will try to help them set up a blog as well so we can have better insights on the juniors' activities and hope this will go on as a tradition).

Anyway, here are some photos of their practices. This practice was held in the AJCO hall 10th Feb 2007. When the juniors were playing, the music sounds very 壮观. I guess it is the sound effect of our hall. =P When I took the 2nd photo, I notice the light behind them was quite glaring. As if, AJCO is glowing. So... I kind of associate these this photo as a representation of hope in getting a GOLD AWARD!!!

Another occasion is their CNY performance (16th Feb) where they simply use two weeks to master the song. Xiuhua and I were there to support them. We were quite impressed with their standard given the number of inexperienced junior intakes we had. Here are some photos:

I dunno how many of you know the experience of performing in AJCO hall (excluding aircon). Probably, those who have performed with my batch AJCO (16th) will understand. We had an entire concert held in AJC hall (before the renovated version) when we played 迎春锣鼓,东海渔歌,昭君怨 etc. AND... The guys were wearing 中山装 (the very thick cheena coat for guys) on the outside and a white long sleeves shirt inside. WTH... UNBEARABLE!!! Haiz... So i guess the juniors are much luckier nowadays. I think we can organize one day to ask interested juniors to watch the video of our past performances. =D (WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT EARLIER) Anyway, AJCO's performance (龙腾虎跃) is the finale AGAIN... Yeah... We must be proud of that! And the response was great from the audiences... Students were screaming and screaming as if their idols were performing on stage. Here are the pictures:


Miss Chua (Bihe) commented that the backdrop made by the students look ugly (cos its white in colour). Frankly, I feel that it looks like those white cloth people used during Chinese funeral. YUCKS!!!

If I manage to bring my camera to AJCO during their practices again, let me show you how our juniors engaged in various strategies to inspire them to practice harder. Some of them are quite hilarious. Will continue the journey of AJCO (23rd and 24th) batch when I get more photos. I hope the journey will 'end' with a GOLD AWARD in SYF on the 10th of May 2007. For those who wanna go back to AJCO and encourage them, give me a call at 94387151. I can help you all check out their practice schedule (basically their schedule is everyday now).

Just an update: I went to their practice yesterday evening, they played their 自选曲 splendidly. YEAH!!!

Genting anyone?

Hey guys/gals,

Jianjie and His Freak Accident!!!

It all started with an sms to Jianjie*** (kk)...


"Hi kk... Are you coming to support the juniors tomorrow morning?" - Ah Liang

"Sorry. I can't. Actually, I'm hospitalized. Got a punctured hole in my left lung aft diving last wk. Recovering, discharging tmr aft'nn". - KK

OH MY GOD... What happen? Is he ok? Was he stung by a sting ray like Steve Irwin? Did he fought with a shark? I don't know. So I asked some of the closer friends of KK to visit him on Sunday (15th April). They are Lijia, Xiuhua, Shuwei, Wenyin, Jianwei and SIQIANG. I was pondering whether to ask Siqiang to tag along. Because I am afraid his jokes will enlarge the hole in KK's left lung and puncture his right lungs as well. So I warned KK first that the jester will be going.

When we reached his house, Siqiang started with all his craps. There were times KK laughed till his wound hurt. OUCH! Imagine you have a pipe poked into your body for 4 days and someone made you laughed like crazy. You think the wound will hurt? OF COURSE.

Anyway, here's the story of KK's freak accident (I might not be very accurate):

KK went to Tioman for diving lessons. When he came out from his last dive, he realised he had difficulty in breathing. He ignored the symptoms and went ahead went back to Singapore and even worked for a day. However, he felt very uncomfortable so he went to see a General Practitioner (GP). His experience with the GP was funny. The GP told him to go take an X-Ray IMMEDIATELY. Wah!!! KK was quite intimidated by the GP's reaction. After showing the X-Ray to the GP, he ironically said that it is nothing life-threatening but yet 'suggest' that he should immediately go to Tan Tock Seng (instead of going back to change clothes). So in his shorts and T-Shirt, he went to TTSH.

Anyway, KK's freak accident led to the shrinking of his left lung. Let me explain: Because his left lung has a punctured hole, the air will leak out of the lung into the enclosed lung cavity. As the air volume increases, his left lung needs to be shrunk to give way to the air. Thus, it gets smaller and smaller. So KK's operation involved a procedure to poke a tube into his lung cavity to release the air. So basically, he was sleeping in TTSH with that pipe for 4 days.

Huiling (Our dear missy) will be interested in this part. There is a box which connect the tube to KK's body. A senior nurse told one male trainee nurse that it is IMPORTANT to keep the box upright. The moment the senior nurse left, the trainee accidentally kicked the box and knocked it over. Another incident happened when a senior nurse suggested to put KK on drip (and that injection is very PAINFUL de). After he got poked again, the doctor told him that it was not necessary. DIAOZ!!! What the hell!!! Finally, when he was on the operation bed, the doctor brought in all the trainee doctors from NUS to see KK's condition. Wah Liew! HOW UNETHICAL!!! The doctor didn't even ask for his permission.

Anyway, now KK needs to live with a 'life-supporting device'!!! (See Picture below) SOB!!! HOW SAD!!! HAHAHA. Just joking. That is a device used for exercising KK's lungs (I don't think there is a need for him to exercise for days because of the laughters we had with Siqiang around.) Anyway, When Siqiang saw that 'device', his first question was "Is that a new 乐器?" (DIAOZ) With Siqiang's jokes, KK was even grapping his wound when he laughed too hard and we had to stop Siqiang from continuing. :

Anyway, with 14 bottles of Brands Essence of Chicken, I believe KK will have a speedy recovery. =)
